October 17, 1959 Adoption of the dirham as the national currency of Morocco
November 1966 Recruitment of the first female executive
April 21, 1967 Enactment of the first banking law authorizing Bank Al-Maghrib to ensure oversight of banking activities
1974 Replacement of the franc by issuing of the centime as a fraction of the dirham
October 8, 1980 The first IMF structural adjustment programme
July 15, 1983 The second IMF structural adjustment programme
March 5, 1987 Adoption of the designation “Bank Al-Maghrib” and inauguration of Dar As-Sikkah by late King Hassan II

February 14, 2006 Enactment of new statutes of Bank Al-Maghrib and new banking law conferring more independence to it in the implementation of monetary policy and banking supervision
January 1, 2008 Entry into force of Staff Regulations with new principles on Human Resources Management
May 18, 2009 Inauguration of the Museum of Bank Al-Maghrib, reorganized in the former branch of Bank Al-Maghrib with a new scenographic design.
